First Space Opera Novel Available!

Mind Game

That's right. I've just released my new novel, Mind Game, in ebook format. Print versions will be on the way. First, let's give you the blurb so you know what it's about.
Mind Game, the Real Virtual Game

So promises the mysterious company when Jeremy receives his wish for Christmas. The game delivers a reality so real, Jeremy and his friend Mickey are sucked into a fight to the death in a distant galaxy. Along with the mysterious Natalie and his troubled kid sister Bridget, Jeremy and Mickey struggle to escape a dictator's trap and save thousands from the same fate.

Where does virtual reality end and reality begin? It's all in the mind.

You can get the ebook from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords.

Here's the story on this one. I wrote this book for National Novel Writing Month in 2006. It is the second novel I've written. The first one is still being rewritten, for good reasons.  The novel went through critique groups, beta readers, etc. Various people have looked it over and given their opinion on it, and I've tweaked it over the past few years accordingly. Having sent it to a few places, and based on the state of publishing as it is, I decided I wanted to self-publish it.  So after getting E. J. Mickels II to draw up a cover for me that I had envisioned, and formatted the document carefully, the result is what you have here. Mind Game, the first in a two book series.

The second book in the series has already been written, and is in the editing stages: Hero Game. It will still be space opera, but with a superhero twist. Look for that one to come out sometime next year.

In the meantime, you'll enjoy this fun adventure. Great gifts for teens.

New GftW Column: Wading Through the Crap

My monthly column came up today at Grasping for the Wind. I explore one fallacy presented by Fr. Felton's article at the Wall Street Journal about the affect of indie publishing on finding good authors/books:

Wading Through the Crap
